I have the pleasure of teaching a group of fun, curious, and creative first graders. The students I have this year are a very wide range of learners ranging from students working on the alphabet to students reading chapter books. My classroom is a Co teaching self contained classroom. We have a melting pot of learning styles in our room being a self contained classroom from stand up desks to small group teaching and even light filters and headphones. Despite all of these things that make our classroom so amazing, all of the boys and girls have began to really find their love of learning.
My Project
So many times in school students become bored, uninterested, and distracted. With the idea of creating flexible seating in the classroom, students will have the chance to become comfortable and focused on their learning. No child should need to sit at a desk for an entire school day and be expected to stay focused and productive. As adults, we even move around frequently, recline, stand, bounce, etc. as we work. A child should have that same opportunity. With the purchase of these flexible seating options for our classroom, my students would have that chance. The ability to move, recline, bounce, or even wobble as they work.
