Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 2nd grade class is a very eclectic bunch. They come from all different backgrounds and nationalities. One thing they share in common is their love of learning and working together. They are always very enthusiastic to come to school and be together. Some things they love to learn about are how to read various genres, write stories, look at numbers in different ways and how to be a 'leader' in their school community.
We are a class comprised of 30 energetic students.
Because of our high energy, we sometimes find it difficult to stay in our seats for an extended period of time. Perhaps, if we had better seating options we would enjoy staying in our seats more and have more choices as to how we prefer to sit. We hope that you will help fund our project, so that we can continue to master concepts and keep learning fun and comfortable in our classroom.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed that many of my students have trouble sitting in a traditional seat for a period of time. My hope is for my students to make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
Students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The comfy floor seats will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
