Help me give my students flexible seating in our classroom. We can use stools and portable lap desks.

My classroom has 24 eager to learn second graders. These students love school, are curious, and have a thirst for knowledge. 98% of the students are from low income families. 75% of those students are African American and 25% are hispanic, including several english language learners.
Although the students come to school ready to learn, often times they don't come prepared with the working materials that they need to succeed.
These students are coming from a neighborhood where it can be dangerous at times coming to and from school. For them, just being at school is an accomplishment. If they have everything that they need to succeed, just think what they could do.
Flexible seating in the classroom will be very beneficial to the students in my classroom. First of all flexible seating promotes choice. When students have choice they are more invested in what they are doing. Flexible seating also promotes physical health. It allows students to move around and this increases oxygen to the brain which stimulates learning. Flexible seating is more comfortable. A student who is uncomfortable is distracted and unproductive. Flexible seating also promotes building community. Students have to share space, take turns and communicate with each other in order to utilize the flexible seating. Not only has this been proven to work but it is also fun for the students.
