Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Students at my school face a variety of challenges everyday; they come to school tired, and sometimes hungry. They are eager to learn, to be loved, and to be in a safe environment. School is their safety net. It is a consistent place for them and they all receive so much love from their teachers. It is my mission for students in my classroom to feel safe, loved, and to be invested in their learning. My classroom is their home away from home.

My Project

Children need to move! These seats would allow students to be comfortable while working on the floor. Flexible seating gives students time to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused. Students are able to do their best work when they are comfortable.

It allows them to change their location around the room and their position while learning as needed.

It provides students the environment they need to be their best. The more choices students have, the more invested they feel in their education.
