Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a small town down in south Texas that was greatly affected by Hurricane Harvey. Even though many of them come from a very low socioeconomic background and have lost everything in the hurricane, their resilience and bravery allow them to still come to school every day with smiles on their faces that show me they are ready to learn.
My students love to use their imagination, are compassionate about learning, they are considerate, curious, and are always full of questions and amazing ideas.
They absolutely love hands-on and engaging projects that are challenging and make them think outside the box. They bravely come to school every day ready to try new things and take chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
My Project
When my students are working, I want them to be comfortable. Stools or pillows on the floor will provide the students with a different option besides a hard chair. Many students also have short attention spans so being able to move around in a wobble chair or standing up can eliminate the behavior issues that may arise.
These students will spend most of their time in the classroom and they need to be comfortable.
That may be having a chair that allows them to move, a classroom that they can collaborate in, and even a spot where they can work in peace.
