My students need to have flexible seating. Our students sit in chairs that are either too big, too small, and are uncomfortable. Students need options to help keep them focused as well as comfortable while working.
The students at our school come from military families. They are with us for one to two years before they move and go to another school. Students come to our school from all over the world. Most of our students have one or both parents that are often sent out to the field for training and are deployed for months.
Our military kids are enthusiastic and have a love for learning.
The students go through a lot and experience an up bringing different than most other children. They enjoy school and work hard.
My Project
Have you every been able to focus and do your work in an uncomfortable chair? Why should our students. The furniture in our school is old and breaks often. There are not options for students when it comes to chairs. They are often missing feet, making them wobbly and unsafe. They are often too tall or too short.
Students should be sitting in comfortable chairs while working.
Students spend over six hours in school and over half of that time is spent in the classroom. It is my goal to make sure have what they need to be successful. Flexible seating is one of the first steps in making this goal happen.
