I have a great opportunity to move up a grade level and teach some of my students from last year! My students past and present always want to learn and are especially eager to learn when new materials come in for them to use. My students are always looking for opportunities to help and learn from one another.
Each student brings something different to our classroom and it helps us to appreciate one another.
Every day is a learning adventure for both my students and myself. We learn a lot from each other and become a very large, blended "family".
My Project
Currently my students do not have many opportunities for choosing a new seat in the classroom besides the floor or back table. I have read how adding flexible seating to classrooms has significantly made a difference in students' learning experiences. I know my students would love to have more comfortable seating choices in the classroom. I would love to add a rug and some wobble cushions as choices to work within the classroom during independent or partner work time. These items would help us get a start on introducing flexible seating into the classroom.
Making the classroom more comfortable with soft seating choices will help students want to learn within the classroom.
The rug will stay in one area of the room, but the wobble cushions are light weight and can be moved around the classroom easily. These seating options will help me teach the students about making responsible choices when choosing a new place to work. They will be responsible for choosing a seat in which they can get busy and take care of the task at hand. The wobble cushions will also benefit my students who just need to get the wiggles out during work time, yet allow them to complete the task at hand.
