Students at my school are inquisitive, thoughtful, and enthusiastic about learning. These 4th graders are 9 and 10 years old and come from very diverse backgrounds. Our school has a high ESL population as well as serves a high number of families who are considered low income. Finding the right approach to maximize their individual learning is very important to me.
This upcoming school year will be a year of firsts.
Namely, these students are the first group that I will have the opportunity to teach using Chromebooks! Many of these students have some familiarity with Chromebooks as our school strives to be ahead of the game with implementing new forms of instruction, particularly through the use of technology. We work really hard to ensure that our students succeed!
My students are a wonderful group, but just like all kids, and even us adults, they can be squirmy! This year I would like to implement an innovative learning space for my students. Some students need to stand, some need to rock, some need to sit on the floor, and some need to bounce. Flexible seating allows the movement that today's kids need. With the stools, balance ball-flexible school chairs, and wobble chairs, this type of seating will allow for optimum release of energy while students are still able to maximize learning.
The goal is for the students to always maximize their potential.
Flexible seating will provide students who need a bit of wiggle room the opportunity to do this.
