Working at an inner city school has been one of the most eye-opening experiences in my life. 95% of our students receive free or reduced lunch due to living in a low-income and high poverty area. However, these students come to school every day with a smile on their faces and eager to learn. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, with their home languages varying between Spanish, Portuguese, Khmer, and Swahili. They are a group of amazing children who deserve the best educational experience that we can provide.
My Project
This past year, students were able to sit on the floor and under tables in "caves" to do their work. In the next school year, I am hoping to provide more comfortable ways for students to learn. Six and seven year olds have high energy and need ways to move and learn!
Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them to learn.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools and bouncy balls will allow students to sit at a table but will still provide some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out.
