My class is full of twenty-six smart, kind, caring, creative, and energetic first graders. These students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and have a wide range of learning styles. They are capable of accomplishing amazing things in their lifetime! It is my goal to help every student believe that they are able to accomplish anything they set their minds too, even if it is not in the same way!
In my class, I have students who are visual learners who prefer using pictures, images, and spatial understanding.
I have some students who are auditory learners who prefer learning using sounds and music. I also have many students who are kinesthetic learners who use their body, hands, and sense to grasp the concepts learned. To help meet the needs of every student we try to incorporate movement breaks, music and group work to help us stay on task and focused.
Each of my students is special and unique in their own way. It is my goal as their teacher to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to learn at their own pace and in their own way.
My Project
The materials in this project will allow my students to move away from the common desk seating option and explore working on the floor. My students can use these new wobble cushions, bolster pillows, and CanDo donut pillows to find the perfect place to work for them. This gives them the flexibility to modify their learning environment to best meet their specific needs. I can't wait to see how these items above fit under a low table!
The students will love to check out the portable standing lap desks.
These desks will give them the ability to have a chest high working space and still be sitting on the floor.
With flexible seating, this project will also give students who choose to sit in a regular desk the chance to play with fidget bands that are connected to their chair or desk as they work. Some students need to always be moving, so, why not allow their feet to have fun.
