My Students

My classroom is filled with energetic, intelligent and curious students. They are a diverse group of individuals that come together to create an accepting and safe learning environment.

When you have an active group of kids that sit in an uncomfortable chair at a desk all day, they become unfocused, distracted, and frustrated.

I, myself, cannot stand to sit in one of those uncomfortable chairs for more than a few minutes. Even sitting on the carpet gets uncomfortable! My students would benefit from flexible seating!

My Project

Research shows that allowing students to sit in comfortable, flexible seating options, like these yoga balls, greatly enhances their focus. My active bunch will be presented with a high level of responsibility of finding the best seating option for them, while feeling a sense of comfort while learning.

Often I can look around my classroom and have to correct a few students for not sitting correctly in their chair or for standing.

The way they sit in the uncomfortable chairs often concerns me. Their safety is a number one priority and the chairs often end up on the floor. Also, the flexible seating options will help to improve their posture. Especially the yoga balls!
