My Students

I teach at an inner city school in a small urban district. My school is a Title I school, which means that nearly half of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Many students come to school with learning disabilities or attention deficits.

Most often, I see students with ADHD, or students that simply have trouble focusing.

I am constantly trying to come up with interventions and ways to help them learn their best in my classroom. My students love to move and have lots of energy. Sitting still in a chair and desk all day is not what's best for many of them. They want to learn and they want to do well - they just don't always know how!

My Project

These flexible seating options include wobble chairs, wobble cushions, and a floor seat. They will be used at my small group table, reading area, and for specific students who have ADHD or other special needs.

These flexible seating options will get kids excited to learn.

I know I personally work better when I am in a spot that is comfortable. If I can't sit in a hard chair and desk all day, how can I expect my students to? My goal is for students to be more comfortable while they are at school, and as a result, be able to focus and learn more.
