My students need comfortable seating choices to enhance their learning. I would like to add wobble chairs and balance balls to our seating options.

My Students

I have 16 bright eyed and lively first graders. Our school is a large school in a rural East Tennessee area. We are a Title school and all students receive free lunch.

I want my students to talk and learn.

We frequently work in small groups and with partners. Students are able to learn more from discussion, practice, and teaching others.

My students are eager to learn and want to be successful learners. We work together, we value one another, and we celebrate our accomplishments as one big family!

My Project

My students enjoy movement and hands-on activities. When we aren't on the rug or at our small group table, students are working at their seats. It is hard for most of them to stay engaged while sitting in a hard, uncomfortable chair. Sitting uncomfortably does not support a strong, active learning environment. After working for extended periods of time they often get fidgety and restless. I would like the opportunity to offer my students flexible seating options. Wobble chairs and balance balls will give students a way to be active while sitting and working. A comfortable learning environment will lead to more student engagement, which means more success!
