Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The learners in my classroom consistently demonstrate great strength in character as they progress toward their academic, social, and personal goals. Through our work focused on academics as well as building a community and supporting each other, the learners in this fourth grade classroom community are gaining new skills to help them as they overcome the struggles and hardships that face them each day. A high population of the learners in my class are english language learners who live in a socio-economically disadvantaged area. Their grit and optimism have helped them as they progress through life and will continue to empower them with the support of educators and learning opportunities.
Together, through fostering creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication, the learners in this fourth grade class are developing their leaderships skills and taking advantage of every opportunity they have to demonstration their leadership skills.
My Project
The learners at my school have expressed a desire to sit elsewhere in the classroom. After reflecting on the learning environment, we decided to bring in a more innovative seating arrangement so that everyone can be most successful as they work.
This project will provide our classroom community with soft chairs to sit in, comfortable areas to learn, furniture that allows for physical movement, and furniture at varying heights.

Once this project is completed, all students will have the opportunity to choose where they sit and where they will be most successful in our classroom environment. This will help all learners in our class feel more successful because they will not be stuck in a desk for the entire school day; instead, they will be able to move about the room and work productively while in comfort.
