My students need more seating options for their flexible seating classroom. The surf portable lap desk, as well as the plastic stools, will allow them to sit and work around the room where they are comfortable.
As a teacher in a high poverty/low income area, my goal is to make my students feel as safe and at home as possible. Many of my students receive free and reduced lunch and breakfast. While I cannot control their home lives, I can control their day at school, and my goal is to make them feel as if they are in control of their learning.
Despite the challenges my students face, they always come to school ready to learn.
My students love to move and wiggle, and they love to work in different places around the room. They are creative, caring, responsible, wonderful students and I want to make their learning environment as creative and meaningful as possible.
My Project
My students are very active, and enjoy moving freely throughout the classroom. Traditional desks and chairs are uncomfortable and not preferred for my students. They enjoy working in comfortable places throughout the classroom during their independent work time.
These materials will improve my students' education because it will allow them to move more freely throughout the classroom, and learn where they are most comfortable.
The surf lap desks, stools, and keyboards will allow my students to work around the classroom with their iPads and other learning tools. The keyboards will help their keyboarding skills while also promoting their flexible seating in the classroom.
