My classroom is a place of learning and exploration. Students spend this year learning the foundation of knowledge and skills they will need as they move forward in advanced studies.
My students are 16 wonderful, full of life kindergarteners who are eager to learn.
My school has a high military student population, serving students in grades K-5. As a magnet school, we not only provide our students with rigorous academics and a safe learning environment, but have a strong focus on the arts as well.
My Project
Students have different learning styles--One size does not fit all. With your help, we can provide my students with different seating options to help them learn best. With the WOBBLE chair, Balance Ball chair, and WOBBLE cushion, students who learn best by movement will be able to do this without disturbing other students. By helping to provide flexible seating for my students, they will be able to focus better on their learning. As a teacher, it is my mission to always put my students' needs first. Our classrooms should be student-centered, not teacher-centered. Providing a variety of seating options enables a more optimal learning environment.
Tailoring the classroom environment to accommodate different learning styles, helps ready all students for learning in all content areas.
Research has found that flexible seating not only helps increase motivation and engagement, it also helps students burn more calories, use up excess energy, improve metabolism, create better oxygen flow to the brain, and improve core strength and overall posture. It is said that physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior.
