My students need flexible seating options like wobble cushions and laptop desks to give them the chance to learn in the way that is most comfortable for them.
I have the greatest classes IN THE WORLD, but I have a lot of students who need to move, fidget, and stretch to be successful.
This is where flexible seating options will come in.
I already have Bouncy Bands on my desks and have seen such benefits from these that I would like to continue to expand the flexible seating I have in my class to allow students the opportunity to learn in the way that works best for them.
Active students are more productive and spend more time on task when they can move. Different students learn and work effectively in different spaces. In addition, students who feel anxious when working, enjoy being able to move to an area where they are more comfortable and feel most effective.
My Project
My students need wobble cushions and small tables that my students will be able to utilize in several ways. These resources will allow our class to grow in flexible seating options in my classroom and to give students the option to work around the room in a way that works best for them. Students who need to move and fidget during class time will have the option to use the wobble cushions on their seats. They can rock and wobble on these to give them the active seating that will fulfill their constant need for movement-based sensory input. This will cut down on unproductive fidgeting, slouching or soreness - all which make it tough for them to engage in learning. There is an added flexibility in these cushions as they can also be utilized on the floor for additional seating options. The laptop desks will further expand seating options for my students while allowing them to have a more comfortable space if they choose to work on the floor. These tables will provide a surface for students to place their books or computers so that they can work individually or collaboratively from a fun and comfortable position.
