My students fall into a lower socio-economic demographic than the average of our school.
GMSchool, for all 5th & 6th graders, offers every student a unique and enhanced educational experience that will meet their needs and prepare them for future educational success.
Our students are provided a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) infused curriculum that challenges student thinking and understanding about content area concepts and how those concepts apply to real-world experiences. Technology and blended learning are integrated into our students’ educational journey throughout the school day.
Our 5th and 6th-grade students have the opportunity to discover their strengths and how to use these skills as they grow.
My Project
Children learn in a variety of ways and flexible seating supports learning. Our classroom can accommodate several seating areas but we are lacking proper chair and lap desk options. I would like to set up our room with a "lounge" area, a "standing room only" area, a "wiggle room", and more! Specifically, we are requesting your support in purchasing a wider variety of seats for students to select from. We are also asking for alternative desk arrangements to match the non-traditional seating choices. I have added ideas like large pillows, bean bags, mobile desks, high benches, stools, and more.

So would we! We are seeing more and more "Cafe Classrooms" and there is a good reason behind this trend! Research and trials have shown improved student focus and achievement in these more relaxed seating classrooms. Help me eliminate the static environment of a traditional classroom and open the minds of our students to exciting new ways of learning!
