This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Hello! I am a teacher in the Syracuse City School District. Syracuse is a city with tons of charm however it is also a city with the highest density poverty rate in the United States. Students have everyday struggles that most cannot even fathom but they still come to school and persevere. It is my goal to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, happy, and empowered. Thank you for all your donations, I know my kids do too.

My Project

Since many of my students do not have a comfortable home to go back to after school, I want my classroom to create a sense of homeliness and comfort. Using the rug and the chairs will increase learning by not only providing flexible seating arrangements, but allow students to relax and feel safe to learn in the classroom.

Using the 5 sense to create a positive learning experience is crucial.

In my classroom I use air fresheners , relaxing music in the background, dim lighting, and tasty candy/ snacks to promote learning. These items would add comfort and flexible seating to keep the students engaged and comfortable in their learning environment.
