My students need options for varied seating arrangements within the classroom. Stools and Big Joe chairs are among the choices, as well as clipboards to set on their laps.
Our PreK - 6 school consists of children from a rural community. Our classroom has 17 awesome kindergarten kiddos. Many parents volunteer in our school and our kindergarten classroom.
The children enter the classroom with enthusiasm for learning.
They love to use their hands to build and create. Movement and songs are a large part of our day. The energy and positive attitudes of the kids makes teaching them a joy. Our classroom community is encouraging the children to make positive choices for themselves, as well as be in control of their own learning.
My Project
My kindergarteners need flexible seating options to meet their own needs. Choices for seating include the use of Big Joe chairs, stools, and lap desks to work at. Children will be given the option of where they sit in the classroom.
With seating choices for the children, they will be in charge of their learning space, which will promote a positive learning environment.
Flexible seating has been shown to improve learning. For all learning activities, I want the class to pick where they will work...standing, sitting, or laying on their stomachs. This will enhance their daily school experiences and promote learning.
