Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher at a K-5 school. Our Title I school serves a diverse community of learners with half of our students from low income households. My classroom is an inclusion model room that meets the needs of students with autism, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral disabilities.
The inclusion model classroom ensures that students with disabilities have the same access to a standards-based Common Core curriculum as their general education peers.
My students are energetic, caring, curious, and excited to learn about the world around them!
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. Currently, I have implemented a small amount of flexible seating and I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. With your donation, I will be able to provide more options to support my students and their ability to choose where they would love to learn.
