I have a bright and inquisitive group of 20 third graders. My students have gelled together nicely over their short 3 and a half years of learning together. Although they haven't been in every class together, they have a sense of respect and camaraderie that deserves acknowledgment. With the right attitude in learning and team-building, I know my students will go far in life.
They are empathetic, risk-takers, fun-havers, and mistake-makers.
They strive to be the best people they can and help each other through the support of their parents, peers, and other people in their life. They are appreciative in all they do and what they receive. They are my bacon bits.
My Project
Our seating arrangement has been adapting since the beginning of the school year. At one point, it would change every week. This gave students an opportunity to get to know one another. Last quarter, I integrated flexible seating by lowering some desks and using the rug and round table as permanent student areas.
When asked "how might we best improve our seating in the classroom," my learners responded with, "YOGA BALLS!" These exercise balls and wiggly cushions can improve balance, stability, and posture.
Along with bringing comfort and relaxation to the minds and bottoms of my learners, it will also brighten up our educational space with its fun colors.
