My students are a very diverse group. They come from different backgrounds and beliefs. Some kids have access to technology and some don't have it at home. With the rise in the knowledge of technology for current jobs, all students need to know how to be tech savvy. Our school has a diverse population with 95% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Many face challenges in and out of school and in their homes. School is a place of refuge for some, and I want to provide ample opportunities for them to shine where they are in their development. As their teacher, I see a group of wonderful children full of energy and a willingness to jump in and try new things.
With Arizona being 49th in state funding, it is very difficult to give all students what they need.
In order for our students to compete in the job market, they must be exposed to and be able to solve problems.
My Project
For hundreds of years, students have sat at desks all day in rigid chairs. Brain research now shows us that this is not the best way to learn. Flexible seating offers students the opportunity to move while they learn. It gives students the choice to sit where they are comfortable. Young children need to move, this project will allow students the freedom to wiggle for many years to come!
This project will fund many different forms of flexible seating for our classroom.
There is a giant floor rug where we can sit and play games or listen to stories. There are wobble chairs, bouncing balls, chair backs, and wiggle mats. These are all great options for students to keep moving.
Your donation will help my students create a flexible classroom with happy and healthy brains!
