My students need wobble chairs, an adjustable table, and soft seats to provide flexible seating. They also need a storage cubby and clipboards to write on.

This relates to my project because not all students can learn sitting in their seats the entire school day. I want an environment where all students have the opportunity to do their best.
My students are third graders in a small, rural town in Southeastern Ohio.
Our school is kindergarten through eighth grade and we also have the high school down the road.
My students love to have the freedom to make their own choices. Whether it is choosing what book to read, or choosing a spot in the room to work, they work their best when it is their choice. My students also tend to get wiggly when they are seated in their seats for long periods of time, so we love to utilize brain breaks, especially our favorite website, GoNoodle.
My Project
My students will use these materials to have a choice of where to sit. They will come in first thing in the morning, check in, and pick a spot that will give them the best opportunity for learning. At the beginning of the year, they will have the chance to get to know each of the learning spots to see which best fits their learning style. They will have the choice of a traditional desk, a standing desk, a floor desk with a choice of seat, or no desk at all. There will be clipboards and wobble stools. My classroom already has carpet squares and pillow pets for seating, and I am hoping to get more options in the future. This flexible seating plan will help open up a small classroom and give us a wide variety of learning opportunities.

Last year my students were used to having a thirty minute lunch recess with a second fifteen minute recess. This year they just have a fifteen minute lunch recess. Having flexible seating in the classroom gives students the chance to move throughout the day, giving them the opportunity to learn their best. It will also maximize our space to give us room for our GoNoodle brain breaks.
