Flexible Seating to Motivate Students While They Get Comfortable
Help me give my students flexible seating using the tall tables and yoga mats in my classroom so they are motivated to work hard and are comfortable while doing it!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a dangerous neighborhood, and most of them do not see themselves graduating, much less going to college. They are 9th graders who need the motivation to believe in themselves to get through high school and be successful citizens in the world.
My students are amazing students who don't have the same resources as schools in higher demographic areas.
The students I teach are 96% minority students with 85% on free and reduced lunch. They have the motivation to do bigger projects, just need the resources to get those projects done.
My Project
The different options of flexible seating, such as standing at the tall table, sitting on the floor with the yoga mats, or sitting on the chairs on the floor, allow students the choice where to sit in a classroom.
Flexible seating is a way to change the classroom from a one size fits all seating arrangement to a variety of options to choose from when students come in the class.
If the students are comfortable, they are more likely to be intrinsically motivated to work harder and be more motivated to do well in my class. Flexible seating also gives student's the tools to figure out what working conditions work best for them, and which ones do not.
