Flexible Seating to Increase Confidence for Learning in the Classroom!
Help me give my students some flexible seating in the classroom, such as wobble stools and seat cushions, to help calm their bodies and build their confidence in learning!
My third grade class enters the classroom each day ready to learn. They are eager, excited and they are open to the world of knowledge that comes their way. We are a diverse group of learners, coming from different cultures, family structures and various types of home lives. As diverse and unique as we all are; one thing is the same, we share warm smiles and a love for learning with each other.
In our classroom, we build a respectful community of learners by offering flexible seating options as well as practicing mindfulness each day.
To get our minds and bodies ready for learning, we each need to feel comfortable in our classroom. Each day should be filled with individualized learning for all students, reaching the needs of every child. For some learners, this means flexible seating in the classroom. Flexible seating give an opportunity for learners to have an alternative seat so they can stay focused and on task. Creating a mindful, clam classroom can also be done through practicing mindfulness as well has having aromatherapy in the classroom.
My Project
I am looking to create some flexible seating options for my third graders in my classroom! Learning is hard, it takes a lot of focus, determination and confidence. Oftentimes students can get fidgety and distracted when their learning gets more challenging.
I want to help my students feel calm, focused and confident with their learning by giving them flexible seating options in the classroom!
We have selected a variety of materials to help us with this; wobble chairs, wobble cushions, and feet bands will help students reduce fidgety feelings while they are sitting at their desks, learning. A lavender oil diffuser will lightly scent our classroom to create a warm and calming environment. We would love to read A Little Spot of Confidence to help remind us that we can be confident and brave with our new learnings!
