My students need flexible seating in the classroom to enhance student learning. They are looking forward to all the different choices that will be available to them... especially the futon!
My students are sweet, energetic and have a love for learning! Many of my students are in the midst of overcoming poverty and trying to focus on the day in front of them. Students walk in the doors of my classroom eager to greet me and ready to explore what I have in store for them!
It is my ultimate goal to do all I can to inspire and ignite their learning.
I hope to use the variety of seating for easier group work and projects. Some of the seating will be specifically meeting the needs of my more fidgety students who need a different option than a basic school chair. By doing this, I hope to lead students toward academic excellence!
My Project
My students struggle most with being able to be focused, engaged, and comfortable in their environment. Flexible seating options will give my students the opportunity to stay focused and ready to learn in the best possible environment. After two teachers at my school adopted flexible seating, I realized how powerful it can be in the classroom!
Flexible seating will allow students to work in all types of collaborative groups with seating that fits their needs.
Tall tables allow students to work comfortably in partners and have adjustable heights for viewing. The futon is not only fun but will provide more leg and back support for those who need it. The small stools will allow more of us to fit around the kidney table to work in groups. Students feel excited and far more engaged when having a choice in where they are learning. The atmosphere of the classroom makes students WANT to be there.
