My students need flexible seating options by the use of ball chairs, cozy rugs, soft bean bag chairs, and lap desks to meet their individual learning styles.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am working to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, clever and inquisitive.
They like to wonder and discover. They love to read, and love lots of positive attention. These fourth graders come from low income backgrounds and are English learners. The students I teach have seen their parents struggle to provide for their families. They have also seen that their parents want the best education possible for them.
Although these students may have obstacles that prevent them from getting ahead early in life and prevent them from life experiences that is seen as "typical", while they are with me I focus on their potential and growth. I am hopeful to inspire my students to become life-long learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Sitting at a desk all day is often difficult for many of my students. Many have difficulty remaining on task when working independently at their desks. To help them focus students are allowed to choose comfortable seating during independent learning time. During this time the flexibility in choice helps my students stay on task and complete their learning assignments.
Choice is beneficial to all students, particularly those who have difficulty focusing.
With balance chairs and cozy bean bags, comfy rugs, and lap desks the students will be able to focus on their work and have the flexibility to choose what works best for their learning styles. This will help to increase the time spent on task in our classroom.
Having flexible seating allows the students to move more throughout the day to help them focus on their classwork. It also creates a comfortable, safe, and engaging learning experience. By creating an environment where students can move throughout the day and have choices in seating you will help my students become more successful in the classroom and help build a love of learning!
