My school is a Title I school where every child is eligible for free breakfast and lunch. We are a kindergarten-only building. Seventy percent of our building's students have not attended a preschool or daycare program prior to starting kindergarten. A lot of our students live with grandparents. Many of our students live in multifamily homes.
My students are eager learners!
They are excited about school and all that we have to offer them. They are little, just five and six years old, but the daily cognitive and social demands are higher than ever! I want to give my students every opportunity to succeed, I just need the right "tools"!
My Project
My students are young...just five and six years old! They are expected to sit through a long day of learning and focus on difficult concepts. Many of my students have difficulty sitting still in hard, plastic chairs. I have started to get resources such as scoop rockers and balance balls to help my students get the wiggles out while learning. I have already seen an increase in student performance and success!
My students who have an ADHD diagnosis need these flexible seating options to allow their bodies to move safely while learning.
These doughnut chairs and portable lap desks will allow my students to choose what is most comfortable for them. School can sometimes be a miserable place for students with ADHD. I want to give my students the resources for success. My students will flourish with these flexible seating options. Not only will these seats increase the comfortable seating options available to my students, but it will also open up the classroom learning space! My kids will be able to take these seating options anywhere in the room and collaborate with their peers. Thank you for your support!
