Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school serves scholars ages 3-12 with a variety of backgrounds. Our school has a population with over 85% low-income students, 70% hispanic students, 50% who are English Language Learners and over 20% special education students. Our students have a lot of needs but more drive and energy than you could imagine.
My Health and Physical Education class serves as a safe place for my students to express themselves through play and movement.
My health class serves as a safe haven for students to learn about themselves, their bodies, their environment and so much more.
Health is something that doesn't get considered until it becomes an issue. Every day I strive to educate my students on the importance of health, so they understand it is a priority. Without a healthy mind and body, we wouldn't have our bright and vibrant scholars that we see day to day.
My Project
My students deserve the world. These items will help them continue to be successful in health in physical education classes. My students need shelves so they can properly store and access their physical education and sports equipment. They need flexible seating in health class to be comfortable and successful. My students need new white board markers to perform assessments in health education. My scholars also need a wide variety of physical education equipment.
With no budget, our general physical education equipment has not been updated in years.
My students deserve the right to safe, clean and fun physical education balls and manipulatives to help them become fit for life.
