My students are third grade students that enjoy coming to school. It is a place for them to come and have their needs taken care of, whether it is physical or emotional. It is a safe place to come and make friends and enjoy learning. Our school is a Title I school that has a high percentage of students receiving free or reduced lunches. However, our students love coming to school every day. Our staff's number one priority is the students. We make learning fun!
I have high expectations for my students, therefore I teach in a way that allows students to demonstrate their deeper thinking and develop rigor of State Standards by communicating their thinking, participating in class discussions, using academic vocabulary, and transferring skills between subject areas.
Students learn in different ways; therefore, students should be given the option of seating. The computer chairs will benefit 50 students daily allowing them to be actively engaged in learning. Students will use the chairs to relax and focus on reading or other learning tasks.
The computer chairs will allow students to have a classroom where they feel safe to move freely without disturbing their classmates which creates a community environment.
A community environment builds self-confidence, awareness of others, and promotes social skills. Giving students a variety of seating choices will provide motivation and fun in our classroom. When students are motivated it increases their attention span which leads to academic achievement.
