My students need access to the flexible seating options such as the balance ball seats. This would create an environment of engaged learning, motivation and student engagement.
My students come from all backgrounds. Our school has a sixty-three percent rate of free or reduced-price lunch. Thirty-six percent of our learners are English Language Learners. We also have a population of seventeen percent which are Special Education Students.
Arts residencies, partnership, and field trips, along with multiple art performances and exhibits in our school are all a part of the LMAP model.
The students at LMAP enjoy showing their learning through art, dancing, singing and various other ways that match their learning styles. It is a fabulous school to attend where everyone is welcome!
My Project
My students need access to flexible seating options such as the balance ball seats to create an environment of engaged learning. Students spend all day sitting in a classroom. Typical, hard chairs do not meet the needs of all my students. Many of my students get restless and will then need to move. Environment is everything to learning, no matter the age of the child. Many of my special education students have ADHD and are very distractible. These flexible seating options, like the ball chairs, would highly motivate my students to focus their attention on the learning and to be an engaged learner.
There are multiple benefits of flexible seating.
When students can learn in an environment that meets their needs, they are engaged, focused and motivated. Work productivity and collaborative discussions would improve with the flexible seating. I teach a variety of diverse learners with special education needs. Not all classrooms have flexible seating, unless their teacher has purchased them on their own. When there is flexible seating available, students can have the independent choice of their type of seating and have charge of their success in the classroom.
