My students need flexible seating. We do breakout learning stations daily in my classroom and during small group instruction, I need for my students to be able to fully focus and soak up what is taught.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school each day ready to learn and happy to see me. Teaching is my passion and the being a good reader is key to being successful in life. I want to enrich the lives of my students while I have the opportunity to do so. The students in my 3rd grade classroom attend a small county school with thirty percent of the students getting free/reduced breakfast and lunch. Some students even get buddy bags on Fridays to take home. With so many other needs at home, many of my students don't have a lot of books to enjoy or practice reading. While I try to provide many kids of books in lots of differing genres, I also try to work in small group settings when possible to meet the individual needs of my students. Some students are not capable of sitting still for long periods of time and often have to incorporate brain breaks and other stimulating activities to allow them time to move productively. Flexible seating is a great way to meet with students and allow them some freedom in movement which might increase the ability to learn.
My Project
I meet daily with my students for both reading and math small group instruction. My small group table does not have enough space for the chairs. The legs are always getting caught and my students are constantly tipping their chairs or fidgeting in their seats.
Students perform better when they can have productive movement in learning.
I would like to provide them with an opportunity to have flexible seating by using wobble chairs. I feel this will improve focus and allow my teaching to have its full effect. My students need to have appropriate chances to have movement while learning and I believe these wobble chairs will be very beneficial.
