My students need alternate seating in the classroom to help them find a space that works best for them. The 2 wobble chairs, 2 balls, and stools will make them more comfortable.
The majority of our students are ESL learners (English as a Second Language) not being native English speakers makes their school work an extra challenge for them. These students come into class ready to take on that challenge. You would never hear them complain. They are filled with potential to learn so that they can communicate with the other students and teachers around them.
Our school is a Title One school we serve a large number, about 99% of these students come from poverty.
These students love to learn and come to school but are faced with more struggles and obstacles than an adult can endure. The teachers work hard to make sure these students know that their positive attitude is what will help them strive to learn.
My students love being active, independent learners. They work so hard everyday, dedicated to learn and are willing to take every battle, big or small that the world throws at them in order to succeed. I believe in every single one of them and call them my shining bright stars! Every day they shine bright with positive attitude as they walk through the classroom door, ready to learn.
My Project
When I work, I want to be comfortable and sometimes it is not at a desk. The new wobble chairs, balance balls and stools will provide the students with a different option besides a hard chair. Many students also have attention problems, being able to move and change seating can eliminate the behavior issues that may arise. They can pull the chairs together as they are reading and discussing.
Again, students spend so much time in the classroom and they need to be comfortable.
That may be having a chair that allows them to move, a classroom that they can collaborate, and even a spot where they can work in peace. These students are learning that a classroom is not just within the four walls of a classroom. It doesn't have to be a place that is orderly and uncomfortable. Help these students get a chance for change.
