Flexible Seating Options = More Success for My Students!
My students need flexible seating options in the classroom! They will greatly benefit from having choices like stability balls, stools, and lap desks to use in class.
My school is in a high poverty area. 100% of students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch every day. Many of my students are struggling, and have been though more in their 11 years of life, than most adults have been through. My students have a deep love for learning, and are working hard to meet their individual academic, social, and behavior goals.
I teach in a special education classroom, where students receive individualized instruction to meet their needs.
My students are all behind their peers, some by as much as 3 years. Despite their academic, behavior, and social needs, my students are enthusiastic and spirited learners. They come to school each day, ready to learn and work hard.
My Project
Many of my special education students need movement and sensory input to help them stay focused on their learning. Having these flexible seating options available in my classroom will make a big difference for them everyday!
Having several options to choose from, like the stability balls, stools, lap desks, and floor pillows will provide my students with the flexibility to choose what works best for their learning style.
These flexible seating options will also provide an appropriate way for students to move in class - without being disruptive or distracting to others. These seating options also help students to regulate their bodies. These will be used each day during academic groups as well as social skills groups.
