I love kids; I love teaching. I want to make a difference. This is my tenth year teaching kindergarten in a public school. I teach full day kindergarten to 25 wonderful, eager-to-learn children. I strive to plan activities that are fun, engaging, hands-on, and meaningful. My students make me smile everyday and I want to provide them with materials that they are interested in. I am constantly looking for ways to motivate my students to have fun and love learning!
My Project
Kindergarten is an active grade level. My young students are moving around the room most of the day. We do have times when we need to sit down and work hard on writing or read a book. Think about when you curl up to read a book. Do you chose a hard chair and a desk or a comfy space? I want to provide comfortable areas in my classroom for my students to do work or read a book. My students will use the eight balance stability balls as seats to improve their work time. This is just the beginning of building a classroom that is comfortable for every student; which may be different for everyone.
When providing a comfortable classroom, I feel my students can truly focus on learning.
Some students not only need a comfortable place to sit, but they may need an outlet for pent-up energy. Many students have a hard time sitting still, these soft comfy seats and wobble cushion options will allow my students to wiggle and bounce while they are working. My goal of this project is to optimize learning and I think providing these flexible/alternative seats could do that for my students.
