I have 139 health students and they are full of energy. They love to share their personal hobbies, opinions, and experiences. They are learning about health and how to create healthy habits. My students have created specific health goals in the areas of social, physical, and mental/emotional health.
Every week they are tracking and recording the progress that they have made towards their goals.
Some examples of students' goal include: have family game night 1 time a week, make one new friend by the end of the semester, say hello to 5 new people everyday. Some of the students' physical goals are: eat 2 cups of vegetables a day, get at least 8 hours of sleep each night, and run the mile under 7 minutes. Some of the students' mental/emotional goals include: meditate for 5 minutes a day, share my feelings with my parents weekly, and say 1 positive thing to myself every day. They are working so hard to improve their health!
My Project
Having different seating options will make a difference for all my students. Creating a unique learning environment makes students more excited to come to class, learn, contribute, and apply concepts. I have a few flexible seating options already. I have wobble stools, wobble cushions, and floor seating options.
My students will use the standing desks and ottomans to have an opportunity to choose a seating option that works best for them.
Students get tired of sitting in desks for most of the day. These standing desks will be especially important to my students who have ADHD, problems fidgeting, or problems concentrating. It allows them the freedom to stand and move as needed and helps them concentrate.
I am hoping to provide students with the tools and the environment that they need to be focused, comfortable, and successful in my class.
