My students deserve every opportunity to grow and learn! Like most 10 and 11 year olds, they are smart, love using all forms of technology, and working in small learning groups on projects. Fifth grade is an awesome grade to teach, because the students are so excited and eager to learn more about the world around them!
I am anxious to keep my students excited about learning, and hopefully with your help, I can have all the resources I need to make this year a success!
Our school is a Title One school, with more than half of our students coming from low-income households. They deserve to get the most possible out of the education system! Making that all happen involves people who care. People just like you! My students need you in a big way!
My Project
Flexible seating AND materials in good condition allow students to take charge of their learning and make choices that work best for them. During centers they are currently choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room at different tables or sitting/laying on the floor with a clip board and pillow. Making sure students are comfortable is essential in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work and have the materials they need in good condition.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices and new materials to replace the ones in poor shape to aid them in completing their work in a timely manner. The ottoman stools will offer comfortable seating. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. They also offer storage to keep center materials stored in neatly. Many of our center materials are broken and need to be replaced. The sand and digital timers will replace the ones that belong with different learning games we use on a regular basis. The card stock and labels will be used to make new educational games for centers out of the games that I have selected. I know that when given a choice and new materials, a students work improve even more!
