We are an ever growing school community in an urban technological city. Class size continues to grow at an alarming rate as out-of-state and out-of-country families migrate and settle in our community.
Our school's focus is on providing our students with multiple opportunities to engage and explore in STEM activities, Project Based Learning, and Project Lead the Way, along side the core curriculum.
Students enter my classroom excited and eager to learn. Everyday is a new day in my classroom!
My Project
My students come to school full of life and ready to learn! Just like adults, they get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day. Research has shown that students learn best when given the choice to find a seating or standing option that works best for them. This new furniture, including comfy floor seats, fold-able lap desks and floor lap desks, will provide my students with a different option besides a hard chair and desk to do work at.
By giving my students a choice in seating options, I am empowering them to make appropriate choices in their learning environment which will help them be more successful in the classroom.
Flexible seating also helps reduce the amount of behavior problems that can happen in the classroom by allowing students the opportunity to take pride in making choices as to where to sit that works best for them.
My students will feel more empowered when making better seating choices and become more successful in the classroom. Having choices helps them become 21 Century learners too!
