My students need flexible seating, such as stools and ball chairs, in our classroom to encourage collaboration, movement, and a sense of community in our classroom.
My students are full of energy and movement. They aren't afraid to get messy and really jump into what we are learning in the science classroom. Many of them enjoy moving around the classroom and learning by thinking and doing.
My mission is to create a generation of "thinkers and doers." In order to do that, I need your help to make our learning environment a more fun and collaborative place for my students.
Students learn best when they are in an environment that fosters learning.
My Project
When I need to get work done, I like to sit on the couch or find a comfortable spot in my house. The same goes for students. It may be at a table or in a quiet corner where they work the best. Students need to break up the monotony of the school day and flexible seating, such as stools and ball chairs, provides them with this opportunity.
"Environment shapes experience, and that's no less true in the classroom"-Mary Ellen Flannery When I work, I want to be comfortable and sometimes it is not at a desk.
The new furniture will provide the students with a different option besides a hard chair. Many students also have attention problems, being able to move and change seating can eliminate the behavior issues that may arise. They can pull the chairs together as they are reading and discussing.
Again, students spend so much time in the classroom and they need to be comfortable.
That may be having a chair that allows them to move, a classroom that they can collaborate, and move around the classroom.
Help make a difference in the lives of our students and encourage learning in the classroom.
