This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an amazing group of second graders.

They are ready to have an amazing school year and are excited about deepening their academic skills and love exploring their new classroom.

They are a diverse group of children and are at the age where they are very curious if the world around them. Keeping them engaged during lessons is of great importance to me.

They love to learn in different ways. They enjoy movement through out the day and hands-on learning.

My Project

Imagine having to sit without moving for 6 hours! As an adult I know I'd need to move a bit, well so do children! They need to move even more than we do. Children learn best when they are given opportunities to move around. My goal is to create a classroom where students have choice seating during times of the day where they can work and at the same time let some energy out. Wobbly chairs give students a way to work and get their bodies moving safely.

Research shows that students who are provided with flexible seating have better motivation, engagement, and higher academic performance.
