Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is part of a school that is located in a low socioeconomic part of Bakersfield, Ca, but is filled with a variety of diverse individuals with bight, intelligent minds. Each student in my class present and show great dedication and devotion to achieving the highest grades while striving to expand their learning on a daily basis despite obstacles they may encounter. It is a true honor to be able to spend my days with these great minds of the future, because despite where they all come from, they each have the motivation to become something extravagant in this world. They all love to read and continuously work hard to be the highest achieving class in accelerated reader. However, nothing can compare to their excitement for math and expanding their knowledge in that subject.
In this classroom we do an extensive amount of project based learning, as well as hands on experiments and lessons.
I truly believe students learn best when they can experience and create something first hand. The students are extremely excited about this year and all the new things they will get to learn, create, and do!
My Project
Flexible seating is the new and upcoming way to arrange classrooms to create an enriched learning environment for students by giving them options for their seating assignment each day. The idea of my new classroom floor plan is to reflect a collegiate library resource center. By exposing my students to the academic learning environment that college students experience, my hopes are to help better prepare them for independent growth in their learning while also trying to encourage them to make attending a 4 year university their goal. This flexible seating will also allow better engagement for think/pair/share learning, group assignments, and make independent time much more comfortable. Students thrive when they enjoy and look forward to class, and this seating arrangement will amplify that feeling.
