My students need flexible seating options in the classroom for independent work. Bean bags, lap desks, and desk storage space better facilitates community, collaboration, and learning in the classroom!
First grade is an exciting adventure! My twenty-eight students are creative, thoughtful, and full of wiggles! Rising to the challenge, their curious minds love active and engaging hands-on projects.
My students THRIVE in a learning environment where they collaborate with others and feel a sense of community.
Six and seven-year-olds need flexibility in the classroom to promote flexible problem solving and community learning.
These little scholars come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. I feel a profound sense of gratitude in teaching such a special group of students who are a daily reminder of all that is good in this world.
My Project
Flexible seating encourages students to find the best spot in order to stay calm, focused, and productive. Flexible seating also allows the children to wobble, rock, bounce, lean, or stand which increases both oxygen and blood flow to the brain. Physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior.
Bean bags, stools, and portable desks build a family environment which helps students view school as a safe and comfortable space for taking risks while still feeling like a home away from home.

In conclusion, Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment.
