My students touch my life daily and are the heart of my classrom, they are the reason I teach!!! Our classroom is a community full of respect and is a place were my students work together, share their thinking, and make and set academic goals as well as behavioral goals. Many of my students last year lost everything due to Hurricane Harvey and this made me realize if this should happen again I need to make my room a place where they feel comfortable and safe-as many lost all their own personal belongings. I want to add flexible seating options to my classroom so my students feel comfortable and know they are in a safe loving environment!
My Project
I would like items for flexible seating so my students have a choice where to sit and complete their independent or group work.
Flexible seating will allow my students to work in an environment where they feel comfortable and are able to move freely!
Throughout my school many teachers have switched to this type of seating and they have seen their students succeed successfully and I would like to have the same results in my classroom! Research shows not all students learn the same and many need alternate ways to sit to complete their work independently with success.
Items such as wobble chairs and chair balls with feet will allow students to sit at their desk or a table and move if they need. Floor cushions will allow students to sit on the floor comfortably. The Bouncy Chair Bands will help those students who need to sit at desk but need to be able to fidget freely. The Surf lap desk/laptop desk will be great when my students on on their laptops researching, writing or completing their online reading and math programs.
