My students need portable lap desks so they can work in an environment that is most comfortable to them. These desks will allow my students more flexible seating options.

My Students
I work in New Bedford, MA, a high poverty school district where many of our students come from homes that English is not their first language and their families struggle to provide for their families. Everyday my students come in with a smile on their face and excited to learn and grow. My students carry many burdens in their lives, but still work extremely hard in school and work to succeed in everything they do! My fourth grade classroom is a safe place for my students to be themselves and and develop into bright, successful students.
My Project
I am requesting wooden lap desks for my classroom so that students who request to sit around the room, have a better option for writing on. Many of my students enjoy working around the room instead of at their tables/desks because it provides them with a choice of seat, a more private working area, and they can be comfortable where they are working.
These lap desks will provide my students with the necessary equipment to make this flexible seating option more attainable and more enjoyable.
I watch my students daily struggle to hold papers in their laps or on their folders when they choose to sit somewhere other than their desk. With these lap desks, this will no longer be a problem!
