My sixth grade students are an active bunch of eleven and twelve year olds. My classes have a variety of learning levels including gifted/talented learners, students needing additional support, and everything in between. That being said, they are a great group of students who love to learn and that is the key to it all.
Each child in my classroom is a unique learner who comes to school each day ready to achieve at the highest levels.
My students are from varied backgrounds. Many are minorities and are from families with a low socioeconomic status. Our school also serves a high population of ELL (English Language Learners) students. These kids like to learn when things are made exciting and when they feel successful. They like to participate in learning stations and hands-on activities. They are very inquisitive and are excited to learn new and different things.
My Project
Flexible seating will provide my students with a variety of different seating arrangements which will benefit their learning. First, the seating will allow for the students to have a choice in where they are learning. They can choose a seating arrangement and style that is comfortable for them and will allow them to move throughout their time in my classroom.
Flexible seating will also allow the students to collaborate and build a sense of community in the classroom.
My students have 1:1 Chromebook ratio so the flexible seating will allow them to choose areas where they can work together and collaborate on different assignments. These stools will help to build flexible seating arrangements in my classroom.
