My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are the definition of remarkable.
My Third Grade class is composed to 19 boys and girls between the ages of 8-10. Each and every one of them is significantly different and special in his or her own way.
I am starting with a new classroom (Since moving schools and grade levels) and this can mean starting with a blank slate. I would love to incorporate a setting where my students feel proud and at home in our classroom. That is why I am trying to expand my flexible seating options. I want our classroom to reflect the personalities and learning styles of these students.
My Project
My goal is to incorporate more flexible seating for my Third graders. Moving from Kindergarten to Third grade has left me with minimal items that I can use from my former classroom, and on a teacher's budget it can be difficult to provide the classroom that I have envisioned for my students.
Flexible seating will provide my students with a comfortable learning environment that is suited to their individual needs.
By providing a variety of seating options, students will be able to discover the learning environment that works best for them. This flexible seating will be used throughout the entire school day. Some of these seats will be used for group rotations or stationary seats for certain students.
