My students need some flexible seating in our classroom! I hope to achieve this by providing several lap desk for the students to use about the room, as well as a rolling cart for mobile learning!
My third grade students are incredibly sweet individuals, who are all truly motivated to learn and explore the world around them. I currently have 24 students, and the majority of these children are emergent bilinguals developing English as a second language.
I want to provide them with the best classroom resources available.
They work so hard every single day, and a comfortable environment is critical for learning. With a brand new "modernized" classroom next year, there are some resources we desperately need to update our room!
My Project
I believe it is fundamental for students to feel comfortable in the classroom. Therefore, I want to provide many opportunities for flexible seating throughout my classroom. I realized I did not have any lap desks for my students, and that these would be wonderful for my third graders to use. They will be able to grab the lap desks as they need to move comfortably around the room to learn.
Flexible seating provides students with the comfort they deserve throughout the academic day, and helps them feel as though their classroom is a space designed just for them.
I also believe a mobile cart would help students moving throughout the room another station to grab supplies as needed. The "doorbell" would be used as a classroom management tool; students would return to their assigned desk if they hear the tiny bell.
