My students are juniors and seniors enrolled in chemistry, advanced chemistry, and advanced biology. Most students in our rural community are from lower to middle class families.
My students are eager to learn about science and the world around them.
Students have different learning styles and different seating preferences. However, my traditional classroom is filled with metal desks and plastic chairs. For many students, this seating works great, but for others, they would be more successful with a different type of seating. I would like to add more stools to my classroom so more students can sit at the higher lab tables and I would like to add balance ball chairs as an option to use at the classroom desks. I would like to give my students every tool I can to help them be successful.
I want my students to be given every opportunity to succeed. The traditional metal desk and chair are not conducive to all students' learning needs. I want to give my students the ability to experiment with different seating options and be able to choose what type of seating is best for their learning style. I currently have 3 stools at the lab tables in my classroom and students utilize that alternate seating, but I would like additional stools to give more students the option to sit at the higher tables. I also have had students express interest in using the balance ball chairs.
