Help me give my students flexible, comfortable seating for the library! Students need to be able to have a comfy spot to get cozy with a book or play with the makerspace items.
The library is a vital place for students to grow a love of learning and reading in our kindergarten through 8th grade building. Our library has over 20,000 books and every student in our school has an opportunity every week to visit the library. Help me give my students comfortable padded floor cushions, balance balls and bigger chairs to use in the library as comfortable seats for reading.
Students who feel welcome and invited into the library are more likely to find a love of books and learning.
My school is a unique kindergarten through eighth grade building in the Northern Chicago suburbs. Our students have the opportunity to be in our building from ages three to thirteen, allowing the staff to get to know them on a personal level. The library services all students in the building and these flexible seats would provide more welcoming places for students in the library.
My Project
I am taking over an elementary and middle school library as a new/first-time librarian and first and foremost I want to make the library more inviting and comfortable for students. Isn't it wonderful to have a comfy seat and a good book? Students need flexible, comfortable seating choices in the library to feel welcomed into their books.
As an avid reader and a lover of books, I know that sitting in a comfortable place can make a difference in how much I enjoy my reading experience.
I would love to offer my students a comfortable place for their love of reading to expand.
